Employment BOOST College Scholarship

We are thrilled to offer two quarterly $1,000 scholarships for graduating high school students and students currently attending college. One scholarship is open to students studying any major and is also eligible for students who are currently undecided about their course of study. The second scholarship is available to students who will major or are majoring in business or STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math).

High school students who have been accepted to college and students who are currently enrolled in a college or university are eligible to apply for the Employment BOOST college scholarship program. Additionally, the following criteria must be met for a student to be eligible to apply:

  • Students must be currently enrolled in a U.S.-based high school or college. Students graduating from high school must plan to attend college during the fall semester in the same year as the application.
  • Eligible colleges include two-year and four-year universities in the United States.
  • Students who apply must have a minimum GPA of 3.6. Current (unofficial) transcripts must be sent with the application.
  • High school students who are applying must have a letter of acceptance from the college they intend to attend. A copy of this letter must be included in the application.
  • One letter of reference must be included in the application. This letter must come from one of the following sources: a current or former teacher of the student, or a current or former employer of the student.

In addition to these requirements, students applying for each scholarship must submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay. The essay requirements depend on the major the student plans on studying or is currently studying in college.

  • Students who are applying for the $1,000 college scholarship that is open to any major must write an essay based on the poem “Howl,” Part 1, by Allen Ginsberg. You can find the poem here. Carefully read the poem, and use your interpretation of the poem to write an
essay that explains what message you believe the writer was trying to convey in the poem. Include what the poem means to you, and why the poem is relevant for today’s society.
  • Students majoring in business or a STEM subject (science, technology, engineering, or math) must write an essay based on this prompt: “How is technology going to change your way of life in 15 years?” Your response can include thoughts on subjects ranging from work to
    home and personal life.

Applications are accepted year-round, with quarterly deadlines of April 1st, July 1st, October 1st, and January 1st and must be received within the time frame to be considered eligible to be awarded that quarter. Scholarship awards must be used for the following semester of each year in which they are received.
