Gainesville Firefighters Association In memory of Doug Anderle

Doug was born September 15, 1965 in Wichita Falls to Orville and Shirley (Schenk) Anderle. He attended grade school in Hobbs, TX. The family moved to Lindsay Doug’s freshman year, where he graduated in 1984. Doug married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Haverkamp, on December 28, 1990 at St. Peter’s in Lindsay. Following high school, he attended NCTC where he studied Agriculture. He then went to work at Wolf Creek Ranch as the main ranch hand. He then got the opportunity to participate in a work-exchange program in Australia where he resided for ten months. Upon returning from Australia, Doug and Brenda moved to Baggs, WY where Brenda had found employment. After two years, they moved back to Gainesville to raise their family and started their ranch. Doug began working for the Gainesville Fire Department and Brenda worked as a P.A. Doug took tremendous pride in raising his children and working his ranch. Doug served honorably as a fireman and was a devoted husband, father, and friend.

The Gainesville Firefighters Association donated to the North Central Texas College Foundation to establish a scholarship fund to honor Doug Anderle, who worked for the Gainesville Fire Department for many years. Anderle passed away in January 2016. The Gainesville Firefighters Association has donated $13,500 to establish the Doug Anderle Scholarship Fund. “We have been working on raising money for this scholarship for a long time, to ensure that it’s sustainable,” said Gainesville Firefighters Association President Brad Thompson. “We finally felt that we had enough money in the account and we are so happy to have it finalized for the students and for Doug.”
